Bar, café, kitchen and cocktail bar

Skjenkegruppen

Skjenkegruppen is Kvarteret's cooks, servers and bartenders. Here you run the house's permanent bars and kitchen, become part of the largest working group in the house, and receive training along the way whether you want to learn coffee, food, beer or cocktails.

About the group

Skjenkegruppen is Kvarteret's cooks, servers and bartenders. They run the house's permanent bars and kitchen, and at the same time make up the largest working group at Kvarteret.

That makes the group a place where people work closely together and quickly get to know many new people through shifts and social events.

No prior knowledge is required to do well here. New volunteers also get the training they need from day one in the kitchen.

Time commitment

In most sub-groups, the workload is around one shift per week. Shifts are spread across day, evening and weekends, with longer opening hours on weekends.

Halvtimen is an exception and is organized as three shifts per month.

The most common first step is a non-binding trial shift, so that you can try the tasks, meet the people and see whether the environment fits.

Stjernesalen

Stjernesalen is the house café. Here you work with food service, coffee, cakes, mocktails and wine in a calmer, guest-facing environment.

Kokkegruppen

Kokkegruppen works in Kvarteret's own kitchen and is for people who want to learn or use food-related skills in a creative and social environment.

The work ranges from serving the house's guests to catering for larger events, parties and concerts.

Halvtimen

Halvtimen is Kvarteret's cocktail bar. You need to be at least 20 years old, and the environment is especially well suited if you want to learn more about cocktails, flavours and presentation.

Grøndahls

Grøndahls is the pub with high tempo and a broad selection. It is a good fit if you enjoy operations, flow and a lot of contact with both guests and other volunteers.
